Furniture Restoration at the Antique Corner
Good wood can last a lifetime and more! Invest in quality. One characteristic that distinguishes antique furniture made from wood is its workability. Unlike present day furniture that is often made from pressboard (mostly epoxy glue) and paper with printed woodgrain (known as cherry or mahogany finish)--furniture made from real wood can be rejuvenated.

We do all the work by hand. This is important because you don't want to do more than is needed. Only restore what is essential. For example, an alligatored back of a rocker is rather unsightly but the arms have a naturally worn mellow finish that should not be disturbed.
In general only pieces dating back at least 150 years or with special finishes such as fumed oak can be harmed by refinishing. Later pieces actually increase in value when properly restored. We all want antiques that we can live with. This means drawers that work, tables that don't wobble, and chairs that are sturdy.
We can reglue chairs and if necessary dowel and replace broken pieces.
